Jacquie Blakeley – Artist and Garden Creator

Passions: drawing, painting, animals and garden creating.

After a career as a square peg in a round hole I am now pleased to say that art has taken over and I am free to paint and create gardens to my heart's content. Taking everything from nature and reproducing it in my own style, either in watercolours, oils or pencil, or in the form of keeping a unique garden which reflects the passion of it's creator. Travel has opened my eyes to many cultures and there is an Eastern influence as well as a Western influence in my work.

My art work is mainly watercolour, but I have worked in inks, pencil, and oils as well. Subjects are taken from perhaps a scene I have noticed whilst carrying on with every day life. I am lucky in so far as I live in the country. I enjoy portraying natural scenes which involve trees, animals, birds, water, reflections, local people and so forth. Sometimes I draw or paint imaginary 'fantasy' pictures. Commissions have been more animal portraits than other work. I have done some illustration work and numerous garden design and build projects, including show gardens.

I can be contacted on 0044 (0)7836 549361 and appointments can be made to come to my studio to see the variety of work I have done. My style varies and can be quite photographic but also can be quite free, depending on the subject and how I wish to portray the subject.

Signed prints of my work, either paintings or photographs, can be purchased by sending me an email or contacting where you can obtain sizes and prices.

I am a qualified (with Distinction) Garden Designer. About fifteen years ago I left the commercial world in order to revisit my artistic side. Being interested in drawing, and with a love of trees, I thought Garden Design would be a good route for me to expand my artistic abilities. Then I became obsessed! I qualified just over ten years ago, and since qualifying I have had a lot of experience on site which has rounded off my learning curve. I have been involved with almost every type of garden, from small cottage gardens to large show gardens, working both in the UK and abroad. My passion is the art behind the garden and the representation of nature through the garden, having said that I also love a very formal garden. I have been influenced by my travels both throughout Europe, and Japan. My own garden has been open to the public in aid of charities, and features quite highly in my photographs on this site. It shows a unique style which blends together Western and Eastern Garden traditions. I think is says more about me than words can.

My paintings/drawings and my garden are as one with each other, so I am simply an artist!
