Should you wish to be come involved in motor sport but maybe not as a competitor, there can be no better introduction to the sport than as a marshal, timekeeper or official. The organisation of any event requires a small army of volunteers who carry out a wide range of duties, all of which contribute to the overall efficiency of the event. Your presence as a marshal will be welcomed and appreciated because without marshals events cannot run. A marshal is able to get as close to the action as it is possible to get and a position at an arrival, start or stop line control on a stage rally will bring you into direct contact with the drivers and co-drivers of the competing cars. Signing on as a marshal is easy, and there are special training days organised by associations throughout the year.
