10 Members turned out at Stockport Megabowl for our annual Ten Pin Bowling Night on the 24th November. As in the past the format was to compete in teams of two, randomly drawn on the night, with the best team score taking the overall prize.
The draw again threw up some interesting combinations with the eventual winners Ken Wilkinson and Andy Turner being drawn on lane 2 with the team of Tony Francis/John Stringer.
Lane 1 saw the chairman paired with wife Nancy and the mother and son team of Steph and Mark Wilkinson
Lane 3 featured Judith Graham and Rick Ekin who in view of the low turnout had the lane to themselves..
From the start Ken immediately got his eye in with some powerful bowling ably backed up by Andy who was taking the more accurate and concentrated route.
John was carrying his team with a steady run whilst Tony seemed to be having navigation problems spending most of the night in the gutter.
Lane 1 saw a good battle between Julian and Mark with Mark taking the honours by virtue of a strong late run. Their lady partners bowled steadily to back them up.
Judith and Rick, alone on lane 3, ran ahead of the other competitors with Judith eventually taking the win over her partner by 25 points.
Whilst overall scores were down on last year John ran out as the top individual scorer closely followed by Andy who with the backing of Ken took the team prize and the bubbly.
All in all a good night which was only spoilt by the low numbers but hopefully we can get a better turn out next time.
