Championship Rules

  1. The championship is open to all members of Stockport 061 Motor Club Ltd. All contenders are to display a S061MC Car badge on their competing vehicle. Available from the Membership Secretary
  2. Contenders for all Rally and Off the Road Championships may marshal on any of the following events and claim 100 points, over and above their championship scores (Maximum of 100 points). The events are The North West Stages, The SMC Stages and The 061 Road Rally.
  3. All championships run from 1st January to 31st December.
  4. Claims must be made within 6 weeks after the event taking place.
  5. All claims must be made by 31st December.
  6. The Championship Compiler will automatically allocate points from all Stockport 061 Motor Club events, and will also try to get results from the local championships in the ANCC, ANWCC, EMAMC, SD(34) and WAMC areas, as long as A.10 has been adhered to.  However, it lies with the competitor to check the tables to ensure that your points have been added.
  7. Marshals shall, where possible, furnish evidence of the participation on an event by quoting the name of the event, the date and the duties performed.
  8. In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the contender who has achieved the highest number of “highest positions” in each event against other S061MC Members. If the tie still remains then the S061MC Committee shall decide the winner by whatever method they deem fit.
  9. For the purpose of the S061MC Championships, a novice shall be defined as a competitor who has not won a competitive award on an MSA authorised event, a recognised regional championship, or an award in a previous S061MC championship. Novices must register their eligibility.
  10. The S061MC Committee reserve the right to amend these regulations at any time during the championship year. Amendments will be announced in the Bulletin, posted on the notice-board and web-site.
  11. All championship contenders must enter events quoting Stockport 061 Motor Club as their MSA recognised club.
  12. All championship contenders are urged to register for the local regional championships e.g. ANWCC, ANCC, EMAMC etc to assist Stockport 061 Motor Club chase the best club trophies for each championship.
  13. Class definition will be based on each individual rallies supplementary regulations.
  14. A non-finish receives 10 points.
  15. Where a contender incurs only 3 non-finishes they will receive the appropriate minimum 10 points x 3 = 30 points. However, when a contender incurs more than 3 non-finishes they will receive double points for every non-finish e.g. 5 non-finishes, 10 points x 5 = 50, doubled to 100 points. This is to reward those contenders who enter numerous events but suffer numerous non-finishes.
  16. Additional awards may be made at the discretion of the Committee if sufficient numbers are contesting a particular category.
  17. All named trophies remain the property of Stockport 061 Motor Club Ltd and are to be returned prior to the Wednesday before 20 December or until the next S061MC Annual Dinner Dance & Presentation of Awards, whichever is sooner.

Championships

The Stockport 061 Motor Club Stage Rally Championship
The Stage Rally Championship is divided into 2 categories: –

  • Multi Use                                   Single Venue Stages Rallies
  • Multi Venue                               Multi Venue Stage Rallies
  1. The championship rounds shall include any S061MC invited multi-use or multi-venue stage rally, with points being scored for the appropriate championship.
  2. A competitor’s best 6 scores count towards the appropriate category.
  3. Points will be awarded with the following formula: –
    (Number in Class + 1) – Class Position divided by Number in Class x 90 + 10
  4. The Overall Award shall be a combination of the contender’s points from both Multi Use and Multi Venue.

The Stockport 061 Motor Club Road Rally Championship
The Road Rally Championship is divided into 2 categories: –

  • Expert
  • Novice
  1. A competitor’s best 6 scores count towards the championship.
  2. Points will be awarded on a combination of overall and class positions with the following formula: – (76 – Overall Position) + (26 – Class Position) + 3

The Stockport 061 Motor Club Off The Road Championship
The Off The Road Championship is divided into 2 categories: –

  • Expert
  • Novice
  1. Any MSA authorised autotest, autocross, economy run, hillclimb, car trial or sprint will count towards the championship.
  2. A competitor’s best 6 scores count towards the appropriate category.
  3. Points will be awarded with the following formula: –
    (Number in Class + 1) – Class Position divided by Number in Class x 90 + 10

1st Novice                                  The Novice Off the Road Trophy

The Stockport 061 Motor Club Marshal Championship

  1. The championship consists of an unlimited number of rounds during the championship year. A contender’s total score will count towards the championship.
  2. Contenders must sign-on as marshals with the event organisers to claim championship points.
  3. No more than any one set of points may be awarded for A, B, C or D (below) in any one, 24-hour period on an event.
  4. Points will be awarded as follows –
    1. Chief Official – Named in SRs e.g. Clerk of the Course, Rally Secretary, Chief Marshal, Chief Timekeeper – 20 points
    2. Senior Official e.g. Assistant to any of the above, Stage Commander, Sector Marshal – 15 points
    3. Official or Marshal – 10 points
    4. Attendance at ANWCC / MSA Training Day – 8 points
    5. Assisting Pre-Event
    6. e.g. Setting Up/Dismantling the course, collating paperwork before/after the event, sorting equipment before/after the event – 5 points
    7. Double points will be awarded for marshals on North West Stages, SMC Stages, 061 Road Rally.

The Stockport 061 Motor Club Service Crew Championship

  1. The championship consists of an unlimited number of rounds during the championship year and 10 points will be awarded for each round on which the contender is part of a service crew (whether or not the competing crew is a Stockport 061 Motor Club member). A contender’s total score will count towards the championship.  Points for this trophy need to be claimed direct to the Championship Compiler.

The Stockport 061 Motor Club All-Rounders Championship

  1. The winner of this award will be at the Committees’ discretion, and will be awarded to the person, who in their opinion has put the most effort into furthering Motorsport, including competing in competitive events, social events and marshalling.

C. Annual Awards
The awards are made annually by the Committee. A nomination form is circulated towards the end of the year to ensure that individuals are not overlooked when the choices are made.

  1. Best Organiser (Foley Trophy)
    Awarded to the person who has put in the most effort organising an event or several events during the year.
  2. Hardest Trier (Whyman Trophy)
    Awarded to the person who has attempted most and achieved least in their Motorsport ventures.
  3. Hardest Worker – Non Committee (Reward Trophy)
    Awarded to the hardest worker who is not on Committee for their efforts throughout the year.
  4. Best Under 25yr Old In A Car Over 5yrs Old (Ingram Trophy)
    Awarded to the member who machinery is ageing, so long as they are under 25 years old and the car is over 5 years old at the start of the championship year.
  5. Best Navigator (Richard D. Barrow Trophy)
    Awarded to the best navigator or co-driver (Irrespective of S061MC Championship wins).
  6. Best Turner out Car (Graham Brothers Trophy)
    Awarded to the car that, despite age, budget, type etc, is consistently turned out “spick and span”.
  7. Stonewall Trophy
    Awarded to the years most spectacular, and hopefully non-injurious accident.
  8. Centenary Cup
    Awarded to the member that has done the most for the club during the year.
  1. Table Top Trophy
    Awarded to the overall winner of the Table Top Championship (club night based indoor rallies, based on road rally format)

Points are awarded as follows:

2nd Place – 11 points

3rd Place – 9 points

4th Place – 8 points

5th Place – 7 points

6th Place – 6 points

7th Place – 5 points

8th Place – 4 points

9th Place – 3 points

    Awarded to the overall winner of the Harington Championship (On the Road club night rallies.
    Points are awarded as Table Top Trophy above.
  2. Kirsty’s Trophy
    Awarded to the novice winner of the Harington Championship.
  3. Robin Hood Treasure Hunt Trophy
    Awarded to the overall winner of the Treasure Hunt Championship.
  4. Ogden Townsend Limited Trophy
    Awarded to the overall winner of non-competitive Club Night events
    Points are awarded as follows:
    Organiser – 3 points
    1st Place – 3 points
    2nd Place – 2 points
    3rd Place onwards – 1 point
